Two workers killed in roof collapse in Rangpur

2 workers were killed when the roof of a building under construction by the Pirganj Municipality collapsed. The injured were rescued and admitted to the Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the construction site in the Araji Gangarampur Ward. It is reported that the contracting firm 'Vision 2020' was carrying out the work.
The deceased workers have been identified as Asadul Haque from Sadullapur Police Station area, Gaibandha district and Shihab from Rangpur. The injured workers include Liton Mondal, Selim Mia, and Babla Mia, among others.
Reports indicate that 13 workers had been working on the roof construction since morning. Suddenly, the shuttering collapsed, trapping four workers underneath. A unit from the Pirganj Fire Service arrived, rescued them, and rushed them to the hospital in critical condition; the attending physicians declared Asadul and Shihab dead. Four injured workers have been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
Nazmul Sarker, the Pirganj Fire Service Station Officer, stated that two individuals were sent to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition from the scene, while locals rescued three others and sent them to the same facility. Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari confirmed the incident.
Nurul Amin, MP for Rangpur-6, remarked, "It is extremely tragic that two workers have lost their lives during the construction of the municipal building. I have inspected the site. I demand that those responsible for any negligence be brought to justice.
