Illegal 'China Duari' nets worth Tk 1.5 lakh destroyed in Bhangura

A mobile court in Bhangura upazila of Pabna configuration seized and destroyed three sacks of illegal 'China Duari' fishing nets estimated to be worth around Tk 1,50,000 on Tuesday.
The drive was conducted in the afternoon in the Naubaria area of the upazila by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman following allegations of illegal fishing net transportation.
During the operation, a man identified as Milon, 36, son of the late Anis from Naubaria Nutunpara area, was caught transporting three sacks containing the banned fishing net components. The mobile court fined Milon Tk 5,000 under the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act, 1950, and ordered the immediate destruction of the confiscated materials.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Ali Azam and Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Ershad Hossain of Bhangura Police Station, along with a team of police personnel, were present during the drive. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the execution of the mobile court drive, reiterating the administration's stance against the use and transportation of destructive fishing gear.
