A new trust fund titled 'Fazlul Haque Student Film Production Support Trust Fund' has been formed in the Department of Television, Film and Photography, Dhaka University.

Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar handed over a donation cheque to Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam on Tuesday to form this trust fund in memory of his late father.

The cheque handover ceremony, chaired by Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, was attended by the Chairman of the Department of Television, Film and Photography, Syed Shahzada Al Karim, Faridur Reza Sagar's brother, Executive Director (Administration) of Channel I, Muhammad Masud, and cooking expert Keka Ferdousi, prominent film researcher and journalist Rezanur Rahman, Mir Masrur Zaman, and Abdullah Zeyad, along with teachers of the Department of Television, Film and Photography.

From the income of this trust fund, one-time scholarships will be provided to a few students from the Department of Television, Film, and Photography each year to produce graduate productions.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam thanked the donor family for forming this trust fund. He expressed hope that this trust fund will play a helpful role in the development of education and research of the Department of Television, Film and Photography. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized on further strengthening the relationship between alumni and industry with Dhaka University and urged everyone to come forward for the development of education and research.

It is mentioned that the late Fazlul Haque was a film director, producer and renowned journalist. He participated in the Liberation War in 1971. He used to write short stories at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. He passed away in 1990 at the age of 60. All 4 children of Fazlul Haque and Rabeya Khatun have become established in their respective fields.
