
‘Kinu Kaharer Thetar’ to be staged at Shilpakala on Wednesday

Theater troupe Prachyanat will stage its much-acclaimed production ‘Kinu Kaharer Thetar’ at the National Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday.
Written by Manaj Mitra and directed by Kazi Toufikul Islam Emon, the play revolves around an imaginary kingdom named Putna, which is ruled by an autocratic king. The play moves forward with several humorous incidents and ultimately unveils a crucial truth.
The prime minister of the kingdom molests a woman. So the English Lord issues an order, “If the woman doesn’t get justice I will toss the throne”.
The king falls in a tough trouble as the minister is his closest mate and he depends on him very much. So the king advises him to falsely fix a man who will admit the crime as his own deed and take the punishment instead of the minister.
So, a lazy man, namely Ghantakarna becomes the ‘criminal’ and in return his wife Jagadambha takes four bags of money from the king.
Soon, name and fame of Ghantakarna spreads all around the kingdom and all the thieves, dacoits and criminals start hiring him to take over their punishments.
This is how the plots of the play reaches climax making satires on political leaders and judicial system of the country.
The probable cast of the play includes Kazi Toufikul Islam Emon, Nasimul Walid Amlan, Mitul Rahman, Bilkis Jahan Jaba, Rontik Bipu, Sanjida Anwar Preeti, Rinkan Shikder, ABS Xem, Heera Chowdhury, Md. Rafique, Monirul Islam Rubel, Shariful Islam, Rifat Ahmed Nobel, Habibur Rahman Suman, Aung Rakhain and others.
