Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today held a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Friday.

The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the UN. Both leaders discussed strategies to further strengthen the historic and friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

During the discussion, PM Tarique highlighted the long-standing friendly ties between the two nations. He recalled the historic contributions of former president Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia in fostering bilateral ties and expanding mutual cooperation.
The Prime Minister noted that the foundation of mutual respect, cordiality, and cooperation established during their tenures has broadened over time. He stressed the importance of making this historic relationship deeper and multi-dimensional for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries under the current global context.

The two leaders exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, including expanding manpower export from Bangladesh, enhancing trade and investment, and strengthening economic cooperation. Regional and international issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Both sides emphasized maintaining regular communication, cooperation, and coordination on matters of mutual interest.
PM Tarique called for increasing high-level political interactions alongside expanding cooperation in potential sectors such as the economy, trade, investment, and8 manpower to take the bilateral relations forward.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening existing cooperation for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
