A discussion meeting titled Sediner Ek Bickel in remembrance of late singer Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel was held yesterday at the Mahila Samiti Auditorium in the city. Friends and colleagues gathered to reflect on Jewel’s musical career and his contributions to the music industry.

Various aspects of Jewel's musical life, career and friendship came up through the reminiscences of the guests at the event. Popular singer Naquib Khan, lyricist Zulfikar Russell, producer Syed Awlad, Aka Reza Ghalib, media personality Gausul Alam Shaon, reciter Shimul Mustafa, along with Jewel's family and closest friends participated in the commemorative discussion presented by musicians Bappa Majumder, Rashid Khan and Masuduzzaman. Apart from this, prominent personalities from television media, newspapers and cultural arena of the country participated in the event.

Organized by Jewel's closest friends, the event aimed to preserve his memory for future generations. The organizers expressed hope that the gathering would ensure Jewel’s legacy continues to inspire.

Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel, a popular Bangladeshi singer, passed away on July 30 in a hospital in the capital after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was a beloved figure in the music scene, known for his melodic style and soulful voice.

Jewel's contributions to Bengali music are remarkable, with ten solo albums and over fifty joint albums to his name. Some of his notable songs include Sediner Ek Bickelle, Chokh Shyam Swapna Rhai, Samane Tomar Chander Pahar, Amar Chai Dhankam, and Morbo Moran. Renowned music directors Ayub Bachchu and Bappa Majumder composed and produced many of these hits, securing Jewel’s place in the hearts of music lovers across the country.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Jewel was a multi-talented individual. He gained recognition as a successful television program maker, with notable shows such as Bolte Chai, Mithaskriya, Music Cafe, Lux Super Star, Nothun Dhaker Bajana, and Sarasari. He also played a key role in producing popular reality shows like Sera Randhooni, Spelling Bee, Bauliana, and Khude Gaanraj.

Jewel held significant positions in the television industry, serving as Head of Events at Channel I and Head of Programs at Maasranga Television. He was also a renowned event organizer, known for his work with stars both in Bangladesh and abroad. His contributions to the media industry opened doors for many young talents.Beyond television, Jewel made a mark in film and commercial production, working on documentaries and awareness-building audio-visual projects for various government ministries, international organizations, and corporations.

Outside of his professional life, Jewel was passionate about photography and travel. He often traveled with friends and held a photography exhibition showcasing his work.
