Workshop on “Current Status and Future Directions of Tuber Crops” held

A workshop titled “Current Status and Future Directions of Tuber Crops” was held on Sunday at the seminar room of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), organized by the Tuber Crops Research Centre.
The workshop featured comprehensive discussions on the current production scenario of tuber crops, recent research achievements, strategies for increasing productivity, and future priorities.
The speakers emphasized the significant role of tuber crops in ensuring the country's food security and strengthening the agricultural economy. They also highlighted the importance of enhancing research and expanding the dissemination of modern technologies to further develop the sector.
The workshop was chaired by Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta, Director of the Tuber Crops Research Centre. The Director General of BARI, Dr. Md. Manjurul Kadir, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Special Guests included Dr. Reshma Sultana, Director (Training and Communication); Dr. Faruk Ahmed, Director (Research); Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Molla, Director (Service and Supply); and Dr. Habib Mohammad Naser, Director (Planning and Evaluation Wing).
The keynote paper was presented by Dr. Md. Khorshed Alam, Project Director of the Tuber Crops Research Strengthening Project (TCRSP) and Chief Scientific Officer of the Tuber Crops Research Centre.
Senior scientists and officials from various organizations also attended the workshop.
The workshop was funded by the Tuber Crops Research Strengthening Project (TCRSP) under the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur.
