A heinous robbery has taken place at the house of former BNP president Afaz Uddin Mondal in Ward No. 4 of Srieepur Municipality in Gazipur. The robbers looted Tk 10 lakh in cash and gold ornaments. On receiving the information, the police visited the house of the victim of the robbery.
The robbery took place at Bhangnahati in Sreepur Municipality at 3 am on Saturday.
Afaz Uddin Mondal said that a group of 20/25 robbers climbed onto the wash room outside the house and entered the house. Later, 10 to 15 people entered the house by cutting the lock of the balcony grill and breaking the door. Upon entering the house, the robbers first introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. At one stage, they introduced themselves as robbers and took hostages at gunpoint and tied the hands, feet and faces of everyone in the house.
Upon receiving the news, BNP Executive Committee's Joint Health Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. SM Rafiqul Islam Bachchu and party leaders and activists visited Afaz Uddin Mandal's house.
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Abdul Barik said, "We hope we will be able to uncover the real mystery very soon."
