Retrospective benefits granted to former LGED Addl Chief Engineer Syed Mahbubur Rahman

The government has granted retrospective promotion and incidental benefits to Syed Mahbubur Rahman, former Additional Chief Engineer (Grade-2) of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), following his recognition as a freedom fighter.
This information was revealed in a recent gazette notification issued by the Local Government Division of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.
According to the notification, in accordance with Section 4 of The Public Servants (Retirement) Act, 1974, his period of Post-Retirement Leave (PRL) from August 16, 2014, to August 26, 2015, has been counted as active service. Consequently, under section 311/I-1, he has been re-retired from government service effective August 16, 2014.
Simultaneously, upon turning 60 years of age on December 26, 2014, he has been retrospectively promoted to the position of "Chief Engineer" (Grade-1) of LGED, in alignment with the department's Grade-1 status.
The notification further states that he will receive all due arrears, salary and allowances, and pension benefits corresponding to his retrospective promotion and re-retirement period.
The order has been issued in the public interest, the notification added.
