Rangpur's Carmichael College Canteen reopened after long time

      Rangpur Bureau

The canteen of a traditional educational institution of the northern region of Bangladesh Rangpur's Carmichael  College  has been  reopened for the students after long days..

The long wait was finally over and the newly named ‘College Cafeteria’ was officially inaugurated on Monday.

The canteen was inaugurated by the college principal, Professor Mostafizur Rahman. Former vice-principal of the college, Professor Dr. Rehena Khatun, secretary of the teachers’ council, Professor Dilip Kumar Roy, central secretary of the former students’ association, Rakibus Sultan Manik, and teachers and students of the college were present at the time.

At the inauguration ceremony, Principal Mostafizur Rahman said, “During the Awami League era, the canteen was closed due to the dominance of Chhatra League. As a result, the students suffered greatly. Even then, it was not possible to open the canteen for a long time due to political obstacles.”

He also said that preparations were made to open the canteen immediately after August 5. In that continuity, it was finally opened and renamed as the 'College Cafeteria'.

After many years, students will once again have the opportunity to sit in the canteen, chat, eat, and rest—as much as they are happy about this, the teachers also feel that it will make the learning environment more lively.
