
Rally, discussion in Kalia on National Disaster Preparedness Day

A rally and discussion were held in Kalia Upazila to mark National Disaster Preparedness Day 2025 under the theme "Disaster Forecasting and Preparedness Save Lives and Reduce Losses." The event was organized by the Kalia Upazila Administration following the directives of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
The program was held on Monday at 11:30 AM, with UNO Rasheduzzaman in the chair.
Government officials, educators, journalists, and representatives from different sectors attended the event.
During the discussion, speakers emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness in minimizing damage and saving lives. Meherunnesa (Acting), Upazila Project Implementation Officer, stated, "Natural disasters are beyond human control, but proper preparedness can help mitigate damage and protect lives. It is crucial for everyone to be aware and take proactive measures."
Among the attendees were Upazila Engineer Pranab Kanti Bol, Youth Development Officer Fayzul Karim, Public Health Engineer Khalid Ahmed, Fire and Civil Defense Inspector Md. Humayun Kabir, Fisheries Officer Abu Raihan, Food Officer Baizid Hossain, Secondary Education Officer Md. Shahjahan Mia, Women Affairs Officer Keya Das, and ICT Officer Prosfut Mondal. Representatives from Islamic Foundation, teachers, and members of the local press, including Kalia Press Club President Sheikh Fasiar Rahman, were also present.
Following the discussion, a rally was organized to raise public awareness about disaster preparedness.
