One taka Puja Bazar in Sylhet : Low income workers got new clothes

Sylhet Bureau

Not in debt, not in charity. The joy of worship is the meaning earned. Just before the puja, this happy smile appeared in the house of the garden workers. Kalagul tea plantation workers have not been paid for four weeks. In the meantime, there is little time left for the puja hours to begin.

Come back home with your favorite new outfit during this stressful time. This is an advance gift as a greeting before the arrival of Goddess Durga. And just before Puja, the one taka puja bazaar of 'Shashwat 92 Bandhu Forum' has appeared as a gift to put a smile on the faces of low-income workers who are deprived of this benefit of the garden. The products of this one-taka bazaar include sarees for women, dhoti for men, shirts, Punjabi and notebooks for students, educational materials including pens, chocolates, dry foods and toys.

On the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja, Shasvat 92 Bandhu Forum has distributed free educational material among the tea garden workers at one taka puja bazaar among about 150 families and small students.

Sylhet Press Club president Ikramul Kabir inaugurated this one taka market at Kalagul Tea Garden of Sylhet Sadar Upazila yesterday (October 5, Saturday).

Bagan Panchayat Committee President Ranjit Naik Ranju, civil society representative Sohag Chhatri, Mangal Chasha, Gaurang Patra, priest Madhav Chakraborty and Shaswat 92 Friends Forum members and family members were present among others. The Shefali worker expressed his gratitude in his voice full of joy after getting the clothes of his choice at a nominal price of only one, and said that he has not been paid for four weeks. I am not sure when I will get it, but for those for whom I got new clothes for the puja, I am blessed with life. Not only Shefali but the workers of Kalagul Bagan are returning home with a smile of joy before the puja after receiving a new dress for one taka.

In the inauguration ceremony, the members of the forum said that the backward people of the society are always deprived of benefits. So on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja we have come up with a one rupee bazaar for the low income garden workers. So that workers will take goods from us in exchange of money and feel respected. We have come as per our capacity and hopefully other social organizations will also stand by the underprivileged people.
