Three police officers, including the officer-in-charge (OC), were injured at Pallabi Police Station when an unruly youth attacked them abruptly.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Md Nasir’s finger was broken in the early Tuesday attack. The youth named Abdur Razzak Fahim, along with his three associates, has been detained and is due to be implicated in a lawsuit, police confirmed.
Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam told reporters Fahim came to the station on Tuesday past midnight, claiming a murder took place in the area, and that the officers were trying to “cover up” the crime.
Fahim claimed the duty officer was aware of the incident.
Later, the OC took him to the duty officer’s room, where other service seekers also declined to have any knowledge of such crime.
The OC asked Fahim about his identity, but he refused to comply. OC Nazrul then tried to lead Fahim out of the duty officer’s room, only to come under a sudden attack from the unruly youth.
As the youth was punching the OC, ASI Nasir stepped forward to restrain him. Unfortunately, the youth broke the finger of Nasir and also punched the second officer in the forehead.
All the police personnel then detained Fahim, leading him to reveal the presence of three other youths in a car parked outside.
When approached, the three youths claimed they came from Gazipur for a “joyride.”
