
Nine including student murder accused arrested in Ashulia

In a special drive conducted in Ashulia, Dhaka, police have arrested nine individuals, including a named accused in the case of firing on students and citizens during an anti-discrimination protest on Saturday.
Authorities also recovered a stolen auto-rickshaw and a significant quantity of narcotics during the operation.
The arrests were made over the past 24 hours in various areas of Ashulia. On Saturday, the detainees were presented before the Dhaka court. The was confirmed by Ashulia Police Station OC Md. Abdul Hannan.
Among those arrested is Md. Selim Kabir (50), a resident of Dhalibari in Koltashuti, Ashulia. He is a member of the Ashulia Thana Awami League and also serves as the Science and Technology Secretary of Savar Upazila Awami League. He is a named accused in the student-citizen murder case. Others detained include Awami League activist Haji Mosharraf Mridha (48) from Kumkumari area, and Md. Milon Mia (40) from Kurgaon Society area in Pathalia Union.
According to police, Selim Kabir—known as a political fundraiser—and other ruling party affiliates were detained for their alleged involvement in the murder case. Others were held on charges of vehicle theft and drug possession.
OC Md. Abdul Hannan said, a special operation was conducted in various locations of Ashulia, leading to the arrest of nine individuals, including the prime suspect in the student-citizen murder case. The operation also recovered stolen vehicles and narcotics. Such drives will continue.
