The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narayanganj, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, held a discussion with journalists from both electronic and print media in Narayanganj. The meeting took place on Wednesday in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Senior officials of the district administration and journalists from various sectors of Narayanganj were present at the event.

At the beginning of the discussion, the newly appointed DC introduced himself to everyone. Later, the attending journalists presented various issues and challenges of Narayanganj to the Deputy Commissioner.

During the meeting, the new DC stated, "Journalists serve as the fourth pillar of the nation, and at the same time, they act as the mirror of society. You portray the character of society to the nation and the international community. Today, you have shared several problems. Some of these issues are common in almost every district. You have mentioned problems related to healthcare, land grabbing, and river pollution—these issues are seen in many districts. However, based on your discussion, I believe the main challenge for Narayanganj is traffic congestion. Apart from that, the issue of street vendors is also a significant problem."

"As the Deputy Commissioner, I want to say that we aim to address these problems and implement solutions. We are assigned to a district for a specific period, but when we work, we consider that district as our own," he added.

Just a day earlier, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, the former Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari, took charge as the new DC of Narayanganj. On Tuesday (January 14) afternoon, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, welcomed him with flowers.

Among those present at the event were Civil Surgeon Dr. A.F.M. Mushfiqur Rahman, Local Government Division Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development & Human Resource Management) Muhammad Shamim Kibria, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Md. Mashfaqur Rahman, Additional District Magistrate Md. Alamgir Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md. Sakib-Al-Rabbi, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Zahid Hasan Siddiqui, among others.
