A 24-member delegation from Bangladesh's National Defence College (NDC) has concluded an overseas study tour to the United States, focusing on bilateral relations, regional security, defense cooperation, and shared strategic interests.

 The delegation was led by NDC Commandant Lieutenant General Md Faizur Rahman as part of the "National Defence Course 2026."

Upon their arrival at Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. on September 9, 2026, the delegation was received by Brigadier General Mohammad Monwar Hossain Khan, Defence Attaché, and Md Mahbubur Rahman, Minister (Consular) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington.

During the tour, the delegation visited key U.S. government agencies, military establishments, and international organizations, including the U.S. Department of State, the Pentagon, the National Defence University (NDU), the World Bank–IMF, and the United Nations Headquarters.

On September 11, the delegation met with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapoor at the U.S. Department of State, engaging in an interactive Q&A session on U.S.-Bangladesh diplomatic and strategic ties.

On September 14, the delegation visited the Pentagon, where Rear Admiral Stephen Aldridge, Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs (Asia), and Jay Wise, Director for South Asia (Policy), hosted them to discuss defense policy, military collaboration, and regional security. Later that day, the team visited the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C., where Ambassador Tareq Muhammad Ariful Islam briefed them on embassy operations.

On September 15, the delegation met with World Bank Executive Director Neelkanth Mishra and Alternate Executive Director Md. Abdur Rahman Khan to review global economic conditions and Bangladesh’s developmental partnerships. They subsequently visited the NDU and the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies to participate in the "Speaker Series" on geopolitical security and leadership.

Moving to New York on September 16, the delegation visited the UN Office of Military Affairs, hosted by Chief of Staff Brigadier General Yayea Diop, followed by a briefing at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh by Ambassador and Permanent Representative Ms. Lathika A. Khan on Bangladesh's contributions to UN peacekeeping operations.

The study tour provided course participants with direct insight into the U.S. national security framework, defense policies, global economic institutions, and international peacekeeping mechanisms. 

The NDC delegation is scheduled to depart for Bangladesh on September 18, 2026.
