Coast Guard provides emergency medical assistance to sick passenger on Dhaka-bound launch

Personnel from the Bangladesh Coast Guard provided emergency medical assistance and organized the urgent evacuation of a critically ill passenger aboard a Dhaka-bound vessel on Friday, following a distress call to their hotline, 16111.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Friday night.
According to Coast Guard officials, a passenger aboard the Dhaka-bound vessel "MV Karnaphuli-13"—which departed from Bhola—experienced sudden, severe respiratory distress as the launch reached the waters adjacent to the Munshiganj launch terminal. Recognizing the critical situation, a fellow passenger immediately contacted the Coast Guard emergency helpline "16111" to request urgent medical intervention.
Upon receiving the alert, an operational medical team equipped with oxygen cylinders dispatched from Coast Guard Station Pagla intercepted the launch and administered immediate emergency medical care to stabilize the patient.
Following initial treatment, Coast Guard personnel transferred the patient aboard a service boat to the Sadarghat Launch Terminal in Dhaka. Under the direct supervision of Coast Guard personnel, the passenger was subsequently transported via a private ambulance to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for comprehensive medical care.
