MEP Hi-Tech to invest Tk 200 cr in Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai

MEP Hi-Tech is investing Tk 200 crore in the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chittagong. This will create employment opportunities for 2,000 people.
BEZA Executive Member and Additional Secretary (Investment and Development) Saleh Ahmed laid the foundation stone of the MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park on Sunday morning.
A modern, technology-based and environmentally friendly electrical and electronic products manufacturing industrial enterprise will be established in the industrial park on 10 acres of land. MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park is a subsidiary of MEP Group.
The special guest of the event was Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam Chakladar, Managing Director of MEP Group.
According to BEZA sources, MEP Group, established in 1974, has been operating in the electrical and electronic industry of Bangladesh for a long time with a good reputation. This industrial factory, to be established on about 10 acres of land in the National Special Economic Zone, will manufacture electrical wires, switch-sockets, fans, LED lights, circuit breakers and other electrical and electronic products.
The project is being invested with a domestic investment of about 200 crore taka and will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 2,000 people once full production starts. The target has been set to launch one unit of the industrial park within the next one year.
Chief guest at the event, Additional Secretary and BEZA Executive Member (Investment Development) Saleh Ahmed said, "This investment by MEP in the National Special Economic Zone will further accelerate the country's industrialization. This project will make a significant contribution to the economy of Bangladesh through technology-based production, import-substituting industries, employment generation and export diversification."
He said that the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority will continue to provide all-out cooperation to ensure an investment-friendly environment and to help investors quickly set up industries.
