May Day observed in Kalia

The May Day was observed on Wednesday in Kalia upazila of Narail with colorful rallies and discussion events, honoring the historic struggle and achievements of the working class around the globe. This year’s theme was: “Workers and Employers Unite to Build a New Bangladesh.”
Several workers' organizations, including the Kalia Upazila and Municipal Workers' League, the Building Workers' Union, and the Bangladesh Workers Foundation, jointly organized a procession that paraded through the main streets of Kalia municipality.The program concluded with a discussion meeting where speakers highlighted the importance of unity among workers and the need for real enforcement of workers’ rights beyond written commitments.Key speakers included Sheikh Shihab Uddin, founding president of the Building Workers’ Union in Kalia; religious leader Maulana Torikul Islam; labor leaders Dabir Uddin, Naosher Ali Kamrul Molla, Elahi Sheikh, Hannan Sheikh, Sabuj Sardar, Sheikh Nazrul Islam, and Rojob Ali. Also present were Kalia Upazila Workers' League convener Milon Chowdhury, Municipal Workers' League convener Hemayet Uddin Himu, and member secretary Nurul Islam Molla.In their remarks, speakers stated their firm resolve to remain united in the fight for fair labor rights. They urged the government to ensure that workers' rights are implemented practically, not just on paper.A large number of local workers participated in the day’s programs with enthusiasm and solidarity.
