Central and regional leaders will deliver speeches under the direction of Md. Habibur Rahman, General Secretary of the organization's Gazipur Metropolitan City.In the president's speech, labor leader Md. Shafiul Alam said that labor dissatisfaction has surpassed all past records since August 5. The factories are showing dissatisfaction due to non-payment of wages and allowances to the workers on time and non-implementation of tripartite agreements. He said that the information of workers who have raised legitimate demands is being blacklisted in the BGMEA database, which is having a serious impact on the livelihood of the workers as they are not getting jobs in other factories, which is a clear violation of human rights. In addition, the number of cases, attacks on workers, and dismissals has also increased. Reinstatement of illegally dismissed workers and reopening of all closed factories, compensation to workers if wages are not paid within the stipulated time, passage of a law providing 6 months maternity leave for female workers, trial of all worker murders including those in the Rona Plaza and Tazreen fire incidents and rehabilitation of affected workers and families, wage redetermination every 3 (three) years, annual wage increase based on inflation, implementation of the recommendations of the Labour Reform Commission including garment workers and implementation of the 18-point agreement, rationing of all industrial factories, declaration of national wages, ensuring trade union rights in all industrial factories including EPJET workers under the labor law.
He also said that 14 (fourteen) thousand workers and employees of 05 illegally closed organizations of Dard Group have been protesting for 18 months, they have already taken a loan of 13 (thirteen) crore taka from the government to pay the workers' dues, but unfortunately, due to the irregularities of the real owner, the workers and employees have only received nominal money.
According to the tripartite agreement, all the outstanding dues of the workers and employees of Dard Group should be paid, as per the promise of the labor advisor to resolve the labor dissatisfaction of 12 organizations including TNZ Group, final settlement by May 7, 2025, and the ongoing labor dissatisfaction of Chain Apparels Ltd. located in Savar should be permanently resolved. Although the Dard Group authorities have given the government an account of 27 crore taka for the workers' dues, the amount owed to the workers and employees according to the agreement is much higher. The Honorable Labor Advisor of the Interim Government has ordered to pay the salaries, allowances and legal dues of all workers and employees of 6 organizations including Dard Group by May 7, 2025. If the owners disobey the government's instructions, the rights of the workers will be implemented through a larger movement program.
The organization's General Secretary Habibur Rahman (Habib) said that the harassment and fabricated false cases against the workers' favorite leader Shafiul Alam must be withdrawn immediately. He further said that because the workers were adamant in their just demands, the owners themselves fabricated and dishonest administration filed a case against Shafiul Alam and imprisoned him for 41 days. Attempts to suppress the case by attacking the workers and labor leaders will not succeed.
