 Land Minister Md. Mijanur Rahman Minu, MP, announced plans to implement multi-faceted sports development initiatives and host new tournaments across the district and divisional levels to revive Rajshahi's sports legacy and keep the youth away from drug abuse and screen addiction.

He made the statements as the chief guest during the grand final and prize distribution ceremony of the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament held at the Rajshahi Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium on Saturday noon.

 Mohanpur Upazila defeated Durgapur Upazila 3-2 on penalties to clinch the championship title.

Addressing the athletes, the Land Minister stated that winning and losing are integral to sports, but the ultimate victory belongs to Rajshahi's athletic arena. 

Nearly 16 unplayable grounds across Rajshahi City Corporation will be renovated into usable sports fields. He also announced plans to launch the "Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Volleyball Gold Cup" across local schools and colleges, as well as a future "Prime Minister Gold Cup."

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahida Islam, the event was attended by Rajshahi-3 MP Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haq Milan, Rajshahi-5 MP Professor Nazrul Islam, Women's Reserved Seat MP Mahbuba Habiba, Divisional Commissioner Md. Yousuf Ali, RMP Commissioner Mohammad Fayzul Kabir, and Superintendent of Police Md. Mamun Or Rashid as special guests.

The tournament, which kicked off on August 22, concluded with individual awards: Palash of Durgapur Upazila finished as the top scorer, Zubayer of Durgapur Upazila was named player of the final, Badal of Mohanpur Upazila was declared player of the tournament, and Abu Raihan of Mohanpur Upazila received the best goalkeeper award.
