JUCSU places 13-point demands ahead of Academic Council meet

The Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) has submitted a 13-point charter of demands focusing on academic, research, and administrative reforms ahead of tomorrow's Academic Council meeting.

The memorandum was submitted on Tuesday to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) by JUCSU Education and Research Secretary Abu Ubaida Usama.

The demands include introducing master's thesis scholarships, providing access to international research platforms, curbing session delays through effective academic calendars, and accelerating exam results. The charter also calls for creating student research assistant roles, establishing research-based certificate courses at the Wazed Miah Science Research Centre, simplifying scribe approval for students with disabilities, and introducing script re-evaluation mechanisms.

JUCSU stated that implementing these steps is essential for elevating educational standards and student welfare.

Responding to the memorandum, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam stated, "We are giving due consideration to the demands raised by JUCSU.
