
Islamic Poet Abdul Alim Wins Zahirul Literary Award

In recognition of their outstanding contributions to Bengali literature in 2024, twelve distinguished writers from across the country have been honoured with the Zahirul Literary Award 2025. Among them, Md. Abdul Alim from Shailkupa has been recognized as a prominent Islamic poet.Md. Abdul Alim was born in the newly included village of Malithia (Langolbandh) under Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah district. After completing his studies at the University of Dhaka, he dedicated himself to the teaching profession in his native area. Alongside teaching, he has been passionately involved in literature and journalism.Alim’s literary works reflect a deep commitment to Islamic values and the welfare of humanity. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Zahirul Literary Award 2025. Some of his most acclaimed poems include The Dream of a Tawhidi State , Let Us Walk the Path of Allah , A Society Enslaved by Blind Customs , Struggle Against Injustice , A Heart Yearning for the Prophet , Return to the Creator’s Path , I Want to Be a Saint, Eid Prayer and March for Gaza.
Other recipients of the award include Nazmun Nahar (Lakshmipur), Sajjadul Haque (Sunamganj), D.M. Ibrahim (Jashore), Mahamuda Khanam and Talukdar Polly (Barishal), Mir Sekendar Ali Khoka (Thakurgaon), Azharul Islam and Delwar Hossain (Mymensingh), Abdul Kader (Bogra), and Kamrul Islam (Kushtia). Their collective works represent the diverse voices and enduring richness of Bengali literature.
