International Literacy Day celebrated in Brahmanbaria with rally, discussion

The Brahmanbaria district administration and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education jointly organized a discussion meeting and rally to mark International Literacy Day 2026 recently.
Held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, the program was chaired with Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Md. Abu Sayeed attending as the chief guest.
The event featured addresses by special guests, including representative of the Superintendent of Police Abu Sayeed, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ehsan Murad, representative of the Civil Surgeon, District Education Officer Jahangir Alam, and District Primary Education Officer Shamsur Rahman. Headteachers Fatema Dinar of Medda East Government Primary School, Md. Ali Faysal of Bhadughar South Government Primary School, and Hasina Chowdhury of Bhadughar East Government Primary School also spoke on the occasion, alongside two student representatives from Shaheed Lutfar Rahman Government Primary School.
Executive Magistrate Romana Akhter moderated the discussion. Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Primary Education Officer Safiya Begum, Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officers, various school headteachers, assistant teachers, students, and journalists were present.
Centering around this year's theme, "Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity," speakers highlighted that universal literacy is indispensable for sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and building a prosperous society. They emphasized the need to promote digital and life-skills literacy alongside traditional education in an increasingly technology-driven world.
