
Indian goods worth Tk 30 lakh including 13 kg silver seized in Satkhira

The BGB conducted a special operation at the Satkhira border and seized Indian goods worth Tk 30 lakh including 12 kg 975 grams of silver on n Saturday.
Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) seized these Indian goods from the Bhomra, Toluigacha, Kakdanga and Madra BOP border areas.
Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque confirmed this information through a separate press release signed by Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque.
The press release stated that based on intelligence information, a smart expeditionary team led by SIP NCO Havildar Md. Abul Kashem recovered 12 kg 975 grams of silver from Uttar Bhadiali. At that time, the smuggler carrying the silver escaped. The actual weight and value of the recovered Indian silver was determined by the Bangladesh Jewelers Association, Satkhira. The estimated value is 27 lakh 24 thousand 750 taka.
Another press release said, members of Bhomra BOP seized Indian mobile phones and soap worth 46 thousand 300 taka, members of Talugacha BOP seized Indian medicines worth Tk 1 lakh 40 thousand members of Kakdanga BOP seized Indian sarees and burqas worth 60 thousand taka, and members of Madra BOP seized Indian sarees worth Tk 30 thousand . The total value of which is estimated at 2 lakh 76 thousand 300 taka.
The BGB commander said, the process of depositing the recovered Indian silver at the Satkhira Treasury Office after receiving the court order and completing the appropriate legal procedures is in progress and the process of depositing these recovered Indian goods at Satkhira Customs is also in progress.
