Bangladesh's Permanent Representative and 
Ambassador to the United Nations Irene Khan today paid a courtesy call on 
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon. 

The meeting was held at the Minister's office room. Director General of the 
Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof Dr Khan Moeen Uddin Al 
Mahmud Sohel was also present.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on the government's 
initiatives for the development of education, future plans, and cooperation 
with the United Nations.

The Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations highly 
praised the initiatives taken by the Government of Bangladesh in various 
fields, including education.

At this time, the Education Minister expressed sincere gratitude for the UN's 
continued cooperation in various fields, including education. He also praised 
the UN's role in the development of the country's education.

The Education Minister said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique 
Rahman, we have adopted extensive plans for the development of education. To 
transform our vast population into human resources, we are placing emphasis 
on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)."

Milon called upon the UN Permanent Representative to cooperate in the 
initiatives being taken to reform education in Bangladesh.

Irene Khan emphasized further increasing the use of information technology in 
the development of the country's education. She said, Bangladesh is highly 
promising in the information technology sector. Students of this country are 
successfully working in this sector in various countries around the world.
