Five BAU professors honored with BAS Gold Medals

Five distinguished professors from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have been awarded the prestigious Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medals.

Recognized for their outstanding contributions to research in biological sciences, four professors received the BAS Gold Medal, while one was honored with the BAS-Dr. M Innas Ali Memorial Gold Medal.

The award ceremony was held on Saturday at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka. These awards acknowledge their outstanding research achievements and innovations in various fields of biological science.

The awardees from BAU include Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam of the Department of Soil Science, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim of the Department of Horticulture, and Professor Dr. Farida Yeasmin Bari of the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics in the Senior Category. In the Junior Category, Professor Dr. Syed Mohammad Ehsanur Rahman of the Department of Animal Science was awarded the BAS Gold Medal. Additionally, Professor Dr. M. Shahjahan of the Department of Fisheries Management was honored with the BAS-Dr. M Innas Ali Memorial Gold Medal for the year 2015.

The ceremony’s chief guest was Dr. M. Zahid Hasan, Eugene Higgins Professor in the Department of Physics at Princeton University, USA. The event was presided over by BAS President Emeritus Professor Dr. A. K. Azad Chowdhury, with BAS Secretary Professor Dr. Hasina Khan and other distinguished guests in attendance.
