
Field Day in Kurigram to promote mushroom cultivation , poverty reduction

A field day was organized in Kurigram under the project aimed at promoting mushroom cultivation to enhance nutrition and reduce poverty on Wednesday noon in the Char Subharkuti area of Holokhana Union, Sadar Upazila, organized by the Kurigram Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Khamarbari. The event brought together mushroom farmers and local residents.
A discussion session was held to encourage farmers to take up mushroom cultivation and raise awareness about its benefits. The chief guest was Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Director of the DAE, Rangpur Region.
The event was chaired by Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Deputy Director of Kurigram DAE. Speakers included District Training Officer Dr. Mamunur Rahman, Additional Deputy Director Md. Asaduzzaman, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Mst. Nahida Afrin, local UP member Riazul Haque, mushroom farmer Md. Abdus Salam, and farmer Mst. Anjuman Ara Begum, among others.
The speakers provided guidance to encourage farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation, highlighting its role in preventing various diseases and motivating locals to take up the practice. Various food items made from mushrooms were showcased to promote mushroom cultivation.
