Explosion at Confidence Salt Factory in Boalkhali leaves two dead, 9 more injured

Two workers have died while undergoing treatment after being burnt in an explosion at the Confidence Salt Limited factory in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram.
The deceased are Mohammad Nurul Alam, a resident of Yasin Aulia's Mazar Bari area of Huline Union in Patia upazila of Chattogram, and Didar Alam, a resident of Badan Ali's house, who was seriously injured in the explosion at the Confidence Salt Factory and died while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The two workers died while undergoing treatment at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Thursday (July 16).
Earlier, a fire broke out due to a gas cylinder explosion during the installation of a new generator at the factory. A total of 11 workers, including Didar Alam and Nurul Alam, were burnt.
The injured are Mohammad Ali, Abdul Malek, Md. Ibrahim, Md. Rubel, Md. Shahadat Hossain, Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Arif, Md. Jasim Uddin, Md. Ismail and Md. Sohel. Some of them are in critical condition and are receiving intensive treatment at the burn unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
After the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalkhali Police Station Md. Mozaffar Hossain and DID Atish Chakma of Chattogram Fire Service, along with concerned officials, visited the scene. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the explosion.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief among the deceased's family, colleagues and locals.
