Everyone must work together to prevent dengue: Pirojpur Zila Parishad Administrator
Zubaer, Pirojpur
Emphasising collective effort to combat the dengue surge, Pirojpur Zila Parishad Administrator Principal Alamgir Hossain inaugurated a month-long vector control drive on Thursday.
The campaign was launched under the slogan "Keep your surroundings clean, stay healthy together."
Following the inauguration, insecticide was sprayed using fogging machines in various locations, including the Sadar Upazila parishad premises, municipality areas, and surrounding neighborhoods. Awareness leaflets were also distributed among the general public.
Earlier, Principal Alamgir Hossain held an exchange-of-views meeting with journalists at the Zila Parishad conference room to outline the details of the initiative.
"The dengue situation in Pirojpur has been escalating daily, placing the district at the top position in the country," he said during the meeting. "In this situation, we must take joint initiatives. Alongside keeping homes and surrounding areas clean, we must destroy potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes. Stagnant water cannot be allowed to accumulate anywhere."
He added that water trapped in flower pots, discarded containers, coconut shells, and bottles must be cleared regularly. He called upon all residents to join forces to build a safe and dengue-free Pirojpur.
The month-long clean-up and vector-control campaign will continue across different areas of the district under the guidance of the Zila Parishad.
