DU Pro-VC receives National Environment Medal from PM

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has received the 'National Environment Award 2025' from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed over the award to him during the inauguration of the national programs of World Environment Day 2026 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center on Thursday.
It is mentioned that Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam has received the 'National Environment Award 2025' in the Research and Technology Innovation category for his outstanding contribution to environmental research and technology innovation. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change issued a notification in this regard on June 7, 2026.
Incidentally, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University and Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Abdus Salam has been conducting research on environment, air pollution and technology for about 25 years. By conducting international standard research on air pollution, atmospheric science , climate change and public health, he has made significant contributions to improving air quality in Bangladesh, identifying pollution sources and inventing related technologies. Numerous of his research articles have been published in renowned journals at home and abroad. Prof Dr. Abdus Salam has participated in numerous conferences and workshops at home and abroad and supervised more than 150 theses.
The university's teachers and officials congratulated the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) on receiving the National Environment Award.
