A local farmer named Narshed Ali (37) from Bharatmaria village of Shilmaria union in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi has received a huge response in the area by cultivating colourful cauliflower. This purple cauliflower is very beautiful to look at.

According to the information of the Upazila Agriculture Office, 55 hectares of all types of cauliflower have been cultivated in Puthia upazila. Out of these, one farmer collected colorful cauliflower seeds after watching YouTube and started cultivating purple cauliflower in 12 kathas of land. Along with this, he started cultivating colorful cauliflower with the advice of the Upazila Agriculture Office. Farmer Narshed Ali is very happy to get good yield and high price. In addition, other farmers are interested in cultivating this cauliflower, so there has been a huge response in the area.

Narshed Ali said, I have been cultivating various types of vegetables so far. As per the advice of the Agriculture Office, I cultivated this colorful cauliflower in a few places. The yield has also been good.

I am getting good price. The cost of production is also low. However, since it is a colored cabbage, the price of my purple cauliflower is slightly higher than the white cabbage in the market. Also, when I first saw this cabbage, I took it to the market to sell it, and later various wholesalers came and collected it from my land, so I did not have any trouble selling my cabbage. The nutritional value and quality of this colored cabbage are higher than that of white cabbage.

This type of colored cabbage has been cultivated in other countries of the world for a long time. This is the first time that colored cauliflower has been cultivated in our upazila. If farmers come forward to cultivate such new vegetables, all vegetables can be exported abroad commercially to meet the country's demand.

Since this is the first time that such cabbage is cultivated in our area, many farmers come to my land every day and take pictures of purple cabbage. However, I have started cultivating a few yellow cabbages as an experiment.

Local farmer Habibur Rahman said, 'This is the first time I have seen colored cauliflower cultivated in Narshed Ali's land. It looks very beautiful. The price in the market is also quite good. I will cultivate this colored cauliflower next season. I hope the agricultural office will cooperate with me. Also, many farmers like us are interested in cultivating colored cabbage.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Smriti Rani Sarkar said, this is the first time that someone has cultivated purple cabbage in our upazila. However, the amount of pesticides is used in this cabbage at a very low level. The amount of organic fertilizer is high. And this cabbage is full of iron and nutrients. That is why it is in good demand in the market. And our sub-inspectors are giving all kinds of advice to such new vegetable farmers all the time.

Puthia Upazila UNO AKM Nur Hossain Nirjhar said, the nutritional value and quality of this colored cabbage is higher than that of white cabbage. Such colored cabbage has been cultivated in other countries of the world for a long time. This is the first time that colored cauliflower has been cultivated in our upazila. If farmers come forward to cultivate such new vegetables, all vegetables can be exported commercially abroad, meeting the country's demand.
