Coast Guard steps up security in Bhola for Durga Puja
Bhola Correspondent
The Bangladesh Coast Guard has intensified security measures across Bhola and coastal regions to safeguard religious places of worship, key installations, and the lives and properties of the public during the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, disclosed this in a press release on Saturday morning.
In line with government directives, the Bangladesh Coast Guard routinely provides security during major religious festivals, protecting places of worship and critical infrastructure. As part of these measures, units under the Coast Guard South Zone are currently overseeing security across 371 puja mandaps located in 18 coastal upazilas across six districts. Coast Guard personnel will remain deployed round-the-clock throughout the festival to prevent any untoward incidents in their areas of responsibility.
To ensure that the Hindu community can celebrate the festival safely and peacefully, intelligence surveillance and patrol operations have been scaled up across the coastal belt. Additionally, a specialized Coast Guard diver team will remain on standby to respond to potential emergencies during the immersion of idols (pratima visarjan).
Lieutenant Commander Jamilur Rahman (N), BN, Staff Officer (Operations) of Coast Guard South Zone, advised the public to contact the Coast Guard emergency helpline at 16111 for assistance in any emergency or untoward situation.
