Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard detained two drug traffickers along with 40,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Tk 2 crore in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Saturday morning.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, said this in a press release on Saturday noon.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted an operation in the area adjacent to Keruntoli under Teknaf Police Station at around 11:00 am. During the raid, officers intercepted and searched three suspicious easy-bikes (electric rickshaws), leading to the recovery of 40,000 Yaba pills, two mobile phones, and the seizure of the three vehicles used in the smuggling attempt.

Two drug traffickers were arrested at the scene, while one easy-bike driver managed to flee upon sensing the presence of the Coast Guard personnel.

The detained individuals, along with the seized contraband and vehicles, were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The Coast Guard official reaffirmed that anti-narcotics drives will continue unabated to curb the spread of illegal drugs across coastal and border regions.
