Coast Guard detained two venison traders with 45-kg of deer meat in Sundarbans

The Bangladesh Coast Guard detained two illegal wildlife traders along with 45 kilograms of venison valued at approximately Tk 99,000 during separate anti-poaching drives in the Nalian area of the Sundarbans.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Saturday noon.
According to the official, acting on a tip-off, a team from the Coast Guard Outpost Nalian conducted two separate operations between 11:30 pm and 12:00 am on Friday in the Nalian Bazar and Doanirgate adjacent areas under Dakop Upazila, Khulna.
The seized venison and the detained individuals were subsequently handed over to the Nalian Forest Office for legal proceedings.
The Coast Guard will continue its rigorous operations to curb wildlife poaching and trafficking in the region, the press release added.
