A comprehensive training and livestock distribution program was held in Faridpur on Friday to rehabilitate and upgrade the livelihoods of neglected, underprivileged, and jobless citizens hit by the economic fallout of the global pandemic.

A total of 156 cows along with cattle feed packages were distributed among selected beneficiaries during the ceremony held at the Nari Unnayan Forum's main office in the Poshra suburban area of the town.

Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, Member of Parliament for the Faridpur-3 constituency, attended the event as the chief guest and handed over the cattle to the local families.

The massive rehabilitation initiative was jointly planned and implemented by the state Department of Social Services and the non-governmental organization Nari Unnayan Forum.

The program was presided over by the Chairman of Nari Unnayan Forum, Shawkat Hossain. A distinguished panel of special guests addressed the gathering, including the Director General of the Department of Social Services, Shah Mohammad Mahbub, and the department's Additional Director, Mohammad Sadikul Haque. Other notable speakers included Faridpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Meshkatul Jannat Rabeya, Deputy Director of District Social Services Rubaiyat Md. Ferdous, Executive Director of Nari Unnayan Forum Afroza Sultana, and the General Secretary of Metropolitan Jubo Dal, Ali Rezwan Biswas Tarun.

In her address, Chief Guest Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf Ahmed stated that wealthy individuals, social elites, and development partners must step forward alongside state efforts to rebuild the lives of poor and unemployed people affected by the pandemic. She emphasized that enhancing grassroots skills through training and providing asset support like livestock will play a pivotal role in helping the beneficiaries become self-reliant.

The event concluded with the systematic distribution of cows and high-quality cattle feed among the carefully vetted beneficiaries under the socio-economic development project.
