The funeral namaz and burial of Mir Tanvir Ahmed, 29, a son of Digrirchar village in Kadirpur of Madaripur's Shibchar upazila who was recommended for the agriculture officer post in the 45th BCS, have been completed.
His funeral was held at his native village at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, after which he was laid to rest beside his grandparents at the family graveyard.
Mir Tanvir was employed as a farm manager at the Debiganj Agriculture Farm. On Monday night, his severed body was found lying near the railway tracks in the Uttarpara area of Boragari union under Domar upazila in Nilphamari. Railway police subsequently recovered the body from the scene.
Police and related sources stated that various parts of the body were found detached. Necessary evidence was collected from the spot, and the victim's identity was confirmed through CID fingerprint testing.
Saidpur Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zulfikar Ali said police promptly rushed to the site after receiving the information, recovered the body, and gathered evidence. He added that an investigation is underway to uncover the actual cause of the incident.
The victim's father alleged that while working in Dinajpur, his son had locked horns with several individuals from that area, expressing fear that he may have been murdered as a result of that feud. He demanded a fair and impartial investigation to unearth the truth.
The family said, question of how a young and talented officer like Tanvir ended up dead with his body parts scattered near railway tracks must be answered.
