Brigadier General Sohel Ahmed, Regional Commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Chattogram South-East Region, has said that no more ‘push-ins’ by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will be tolerated along the Bangladesh-India border.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Chhota Foringa Border Observation Post (BOP) in Ward No. 9 of Korerhat Union under Mirsarai Upazila on Sunday, Brig Gen Sohel Ahmed said the illegal push-ins of Bengali-speaking Indian citizens into Bangladesh under the false claim that they are Bangladeshis will not be accepted in any way.
He emphasized that BGB remains committed to strictly suppressing all forms of border crimes — including illegal crossings, smuggling, drug trafficking, and cattle smuggling — particularly in areas where the border is unfenced, such as Chattogram and the Chattogram Hill Tracts.
Senior BGB officials, including Guimara Sector Commander Colonel Md Mizanur Rahman and Ramgarh Zone Commander Lt. Col. Md Ahsan Ul Islam, were also present at the inauguration.
The newly launched Chhota Foringa BOP is the 12th BOP established under the 43 BGB Battalion in the past year. Situated in a remote hilly area on the banks of the Feni River, about 3 km from the Koylarmukh border outpost, the new facility will significantly enhance border security across approximately five kilometers, covering the areas of Budda, Gheramara, Chhota Foringa, Fatikchhari Bagan Bazar, and Dantmara Union.
BGB officials said that the establishment of this BOP will improve surveillance, facilitate swift response to border crimes, and strengthen overall security, especially in combating smuggling and drug trafficking.
