Begum Anwara Degree College Acting Principal Rashedul Islam involved in irregularities

Araihazar (Narayanganj) Correspondent.

There have been allegations of collecting 1000 taka as second-year improvement fee and 500 taka fine for each failed subject from students re-admitting to the second year at Panchrukhi Begum Anwara College in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj.

It is learnt that 286 candidates recently took part in the college's year change examination.

Out of them, 53 candidates passed and 233 candidates failed. Students who failed in one or more subjects will have to pay a fine of 500 taka to continue their studies in the second year and all students who wish to be admitted have been given a notice signed by the Acting Principal to deposit 1000 taka as second-year improvement fee. After receiving the notice, there is anger among the students.

Under pressure from the students, the acting principal is cleverly promoting the re-admission fee as development fee. Students and guardians are angry at this unethical activity of Panchrukhi Begum Anwara College.

The circular states that as per Section 5(e) of the Financial Transparency and Accountability Policy of Private Educational Institutions, 2026, no re-admission fee can be collected from any student studying in any institution. This policy emphasizes proper adherence to government financial rules and regulations in all income and expenditure. It has also been mentioned that the managing committee and the head of the institution are accountable for financial irregularities and corruption.
The guardians' question is, if a student fails in one or more subjects, to which sector is the money for collecting the fine of 500 taka for each subject and the re-admission fee going and where was the approval for this taken from? It has been alleged that the acting principal is running the college in an autocratic manner.

The parents and students have demanded an investigation into where the approval for collecting this money was taken from and in which sector the collected money is being spent.

There have been allegations of embezzlement of money in this college before and the locals have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner.

When asked about this, Acting Principal Rashedul Islam said that we do not have money but we will use it for the development of the college through the bank.

While talking to the college president Fakir Chand, he cut off the phone . In this regard, UNO Md. Asadur Rahman was called repeatedly on his mobile phone, but he did not receive the call.
