Bangladesh Coast Guard Opens Six Ships to the Public on the Occasion of Independence and National Day 2025

 

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haq announced that six Coast Guard ships had been opened to the public to mark the occasion of Great Independence and National Day.

He stated, "Today, March 26, is the Great Independence and National Day, which the Bengali nation commemorates with special significance every year."

To celebrate this occasion, the Bangladesh Coast Guard opened the following ships to the public from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM:

  • BCGS Shet Gang (Munshiganj Launch Ghat, Dhaka)
  • BCGS Syed Nazrul (15 No. Ghat, Patenga)
  • BCGS Shyamal Bangla (BCG Base Chattogram, Ichhanagar)
  • BCGS Kamruzzaman (Digraj, Mongla)
  • BCGS Touhid (Rupsha, Khulna)
  • BCGS Aporajeyo Bangla (Payra Port, Patuakhali)

Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haq further stated that from 12:00 PM, a large number of men and women from surrounding areas gathered to visit the ships. This opportunity allowed the general public to learn more about Coast Guard ships and their functions.

Additionally, Coast Guard officers and sailors answered visitors' questions and explained various aspects of the ships, including deep-sea navigation, coastal and riverine patrols, search and rescue missions, prevention of illegal intrusions and smuggling, anti-piracy operations, conservation of fisheries and natural resources, and naval warfare strategies. The event generated positive engagement among the public regarding the role and activities of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
