Avoid unpleasant incidents during Pahela Baishakh rally : Sylhet DC

District Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad has urged everyone to refrain from any unpleasant activities during the Pahela Baishakh procession. He emphasized the need for collective participation of social and cultural organizations along with all ethnic groups to celebrate the Bengali New Year with due respect, enthusiasm, and festivity. For security purposes, he advised against carrying unnecessary items during the procession.

Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad further stated that law enforcement officials must remain vigilant to ensure smooth security arrangements during Baishakhi events. He assured that security measures would be heightened to prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, he directed local authorities to take necessary steps to ensure that gambling or obscenity does not take place anywhere in the district under the guise of New Year celebrations.

A preparatory meeting was held on Wednesday, April 9, at the conference room of the Sylhet District Administrator’s office ahead of celebrating Bengali New Year 1432 in a festive environment. Presiding over the meeting, District Administrator Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad delivered the aforementioned remarks.

In line with the national program schedule, a Baishakhi procession will commence at 8:00 AM on April 14 from Circuit House in Sylhet after mandatory performances of the national anthem and "Esho He Boishakh" song. The procession will traverse Nagari Chattar, Bandar Bazar, Zindabazar, Chowhatta, and Rikabibazar points before concluding at Blue Bird School and College. A cultural program and prize distribution ceremony will be held at 9:00 AM in the premises of Blue Bird School and College. Additionally, handicrafts and textile fairs, New Year fairs, as well as drawing and writing competitions will be organized. The meeting also decided to arrange Baishakhi processions, cultural programs, and traditional fairs at every union level across all upazilas of the district.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Local Government Subarna Sarkar; Additional District Administrator (Development and Human Resource Management) Padmasan Singh; Additional District Magistrate Farzana Akhtar Mita; Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Debashish Das; Chief Property Officer of Sylhet City Corporation Bishwajit Deb; Sub-Divisional Engineer of Water Development Board Md. Amir Hossain Khan; Principal Librarian cum Deputy Director of Divisional Government Public Library Dilip Kumar Saha; Additional Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension Department Debal Sarkar; Assistant Director of Bangladesh Betar Sylhet Md. Delwar Hossain; District Children Affairs Officer Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan; and District Sports Affairs Officer Md. Nur Hossain among others.
