Attempt to rape of student, 50-yr man handed over to police after lynching in Mirzapur

Locals in Mirzapur, Tangail, have handed over Chan Mia to the police with mob lynching on charges of attempting to rape a second-grade student (7).
The incident took place at around 11 am on Thursday (May 15) in a village in Banail Union of the upazila. The arrested person is Chan Mia Munshi (50), son of the deceased Yasin Munshi of Guntia village in Jamurki Union of the upazila.
Police and locals said that on Thursday morning, the child went to play with other children in a neighboring house. The accused Chan Mia called the child and took him to a grass field and tried to rape him. At that time, local people saw him and arrested him, mob lynched him and tied him to a tree in Majhalia Bazar. Later, when the police were informed, Mirzapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Ziaul Islam and his team arrested Chan Mia. The child's mother filed a complaint with the police station.
OC Mohammad Rashedul Islam said, the accused was arrested after receiving the information. Based on the complaint of the child's mother, an attempt to rape case is being processed against him.
