4 crew nembers rescued by Coast Guard as bulkhead sinks near Sandwip

The Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued four crew members alive on Wednesday after a bulkhead suffered a hull rupture and sank in the waters near the Guptachhara Ghat area in Sandwip upazila.
According to Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM on Wednesday when water began rapidly flooding the vessel, causing it to submerge with four individuals on board.
Authorities were alerted to the emergency through the national helpline 999. In response, the Coast Guard launched an immediate joint rescue operation involving BCG Station Sandwip, a service boat from Kumira Ghat, and representatives of the bulkhead owners stationed at Guptachhara Ghat.
Through the coordinated efforts of the rescue teams, all four crew members were pulled safely from the sinking vessel. The Coast Guard provided the survivors with immediate first aid and food supplies before handing them over safely to their employers.
The Coast Guard reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to ensuring maritime security and conducting swift emergency rescue operations across the country's coastal and riverine regions.
