Golam Rabbani, Gopalganj
Following clashes centering the rally and march organized as part of the National Citizen Party's (NCP) central program in Gopalganj, a curfew was imposed on Wednesday night by the district administration. In response to the unrest, a joint operation by the army, RAB, and police has so far resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals.
Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman, OC of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, stated that a joint operation was conducted from Wednesday night through Thursday morning, during which 20 people were detained. The detainees have been handed over to the Sadar Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway against them.
He further added, “The situation is now completely under control. The administration is working with the utmost caution to ensure the safety of lives and property. Operations will continue.”
Meanwhile, although the violence initially sparked concern among locals, the administration's firm stance has helped restore calm. Security has been heightened in key areas and installations throughout the district.
