
18 AL activists sued over vandalism of BNP office in Bandarban

A case has been filed against 18 leaders and activists of the Awami League in connection with the late-night vandalism and crude bomb explosion at the BNP office in Bandarban. The case was filed on Thursday at the Bandarban Sadar Police Station by a local resident named Abul Kalam from the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of the town.
According to the case details, on the night of Sunday, 14 July, Awami League-backed miscreants allegedly stormed the Shahid Zia Smriti Sangsad office in the Army Para area of the town and carried out vandalism. They reportedly damaged the office’s door, tables, and chairs, destroyed the party signboard and portraits of top BNP leaders, and threw the damaged pictures on the floor before fleeing the scene. The complaint also mentioned that some Awami League members had been trying to seize the office for a long time, and this attack was part of that effort.
The accused in the case include: AKM Jahangir, Vice President, Bandarban District Awami League , Mozammel Haque Bahadur, Joint General Secretary,Nazmul Hasan Bhuiyan, Religious Affairs Secretary ,Shamsul Islam, General Secretary of Bandarban Municipality Awami League ,Rashed Chowdhury, Former President of Chhatra League ,Anisur Rahman Sujan, President of Bir Bahadur Welfare Trust ,Shibu Chowdhury, Former Jubo League Leader , Jamal Chowdhury, Former President of District Jubo League,Bimal Kanti Dash, Ward Awami League Leader ,Rubel Chowdhury, Raju Barua, Monir Chowdhury, Khalilur Rahman, Rana Chowdhury, Mohi Uddin, Nasir Uddin, Nur Mohammad Kalu, Sohel Bhandari, and several unidentified individuals.
OC of Bandarban Sadar Police Station, Masum Parvez said, a case has been filed by Abul Kalam against 18 named individuals over the vandalism at the BNP office in Army Para. Necessary legal actions, including arrest of the accused, will be taken based on the findings of the investigation."
