160 -kg of banned polythene seized in Moulvibazar, two companies fined Tk 70,000

The district administration's mobile court has conducted a massive drive in Moulvibazar town to prevent environmental pollution and implement the Environmental Protection Act.
At that time, two organizations were fined 70,000 taka for stockpiling banned polythene. 160 kg of polythene was seized.
The operation was conducted on the city's Kudrat Ullah Road on Tuesday afternoon under the leadership of District Administration Executive Magistrate Md. Mahfuzul Haque Ami.
During the operation, Al-Amin Store was fined Tk 50,000 under the relevant section for violating the Environmental Protection Act. During this time, 100 kg of polythene stored in the establishment was seized. Under the same section, Messrs. Bismillah Store was also fined Tk 20,000 and 60 kg of polythene was seized.
Maidul Islam, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, and members of law enforcement agencies were present in the operation.
At this time, the district administration made businessmen and concerned individuals aware of the harmful effects of polythene.
Executive Magistrate of the district administration Md. Mahfuzul Haque Ami said that such campaigns will continue to protect the balance of the environment and ensure a sustainable environment.
