Tyrannical rule will not be allowed on people again thru' some sort of election: Adv Muazzam Hossain Helal
Md Saidul Islam ,Barishal
A tyrannical rule will not be allowed to be imposed on the people of this country again through some sort of election, said Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said this as the chief guest while speaking at a prayer event organized by Barishal Metropolitan Jamaat at the auditorium of City College in the city on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the July uprising, for the martyrs, injured and disabled on Tuesday.
He said, for the past seventeen years, Awami League has inflicted extreme oppression on the people of Bangladesh. We did not get an opportunity to hold even a protest rally; as soon as we tried to bring out a procession, the police started repression. It is only because the people of this country overcame their fear and took to the streets that the most heinous killer in history, Sheikh Hasina, was forced to flee with her belongings. Jamaat-e-Islami has provided financial assistance to all the martyr families of the July movement and has stood by those who were injured and disabled. These martyrs did not give their lives for some sort of election, they gave their lives for a fundamental change.
Whoever the people of the country support will come to power; there is no scope to think that the upcoming election will be like the past. Power balance must be determined, if the Prime Minister controls all powers, then again autocracy will emerge—without these fundamental reforms, there will be no election.
Under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Ameer and Central Working Committee Member Principal Zahir Uddin Mu. Babor and conducted by Secretary Maulana Motiur Rahman, the event was also addressed by Metropolitan Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mahmud Hossain, Metropolitan Working Committee Member Maulana Habibur Rahman, Shamim Kabir, Jamaat leader Syed Golam Gofran, Hafez Jaber Hasan, Jahangir Kabir and other Jamaat leaders.
