Permanent peace and stability in the hilly regions can be restored not only by maintaining law and order, but also by protecting the victims, stopping the use of illegal weapons, justly resolving land disputes and ensuring equal rights.

PCNP leaders made these comments at a press conference organized on Tuesday morning at the Hilly Knowledge Exploration Library in Banarupa on the human rights situation in the hilly regions.

PCNP Rangamati District Organizing Secretary Humayun Kabir presided over the press conference and PCCP Central General Secretary Md. Habib Azam conducted the press conference. PCNP Rangamati District President Abu Bakar Siddique read out a written statement.

Key points of the report on human rights violations and violence raised at the press conference: From January to June 2026, about 240 human rights violations occurred in the hilly areas by the terrorists of the armed terrorist organizations JSS, UPDF and KNF. Out of these, 47 were kidnappings and 16 were murders of local businessmen, farmers, drivers, students and ordinary people.
