Govt determined to improving country’s overall situation before election: CA Press Wing

The government is working  to stabilise the overall situation that has prevailed in the country since the mass uprising last year, and it is committed to improve the situation before the election at any cost, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said today.

 

"Prompt action is being taken regarding the [unruly] incidents that are occurring," he said during a views-exchange meeting with officials from various government offices, local journalists and civil society representatives at Rajshahi deputy commissioner's office this morning.

Commenting on the recent murder of a trader near Dhaka's Mitford Hospital, the deputy press secretary said four suspects have already been arrested and investigation is ongoing in this connection.

 Azad Majumder further said a few days ago, the CA held a meeting with officials of the home ministry, where he instructed that from now on, there will be no compromises in the event of any disorderly occurrences.

Mentioning that instructions have already been given to police, he said the prevailing situation will gradually improve. "There is no alternative to improving the law and order situation before the elections."

 

The deputy press secretary also informed that all cases lodged under the Digital Security Act have already been cancelled, and all provisions of the Cyber Security Act, except concerning hacking, have been made bailable.

At the meeting, Chief Adviser's Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammd, Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi, and Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Afia Akter were present.

 

The civil society members were asked to inform the administration of any unruly incidents.
