Ex-JnU student Tithi jailed for 5 years

Jagannath University (JnU) student Tithi Sarkar, who was suspended from the university for making derogatory comments about religion on social media, has been jailed for five years in the Digital Security Act (DSA) case filed in 2020.
On Monday, Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Zulfikar Hayat announced the verdict.
Earlier on 5 November 2020, a person named Abu Musa Rifat filed the case in Dhaka Cyber Tribunal.
It was learned that Tithi Sarker had been making derogatory comments about religion on different social media for a long time. Later, other students of the university held human chain and staged protest demanding her suspension from the university.
Following the protest, the JnU administration suspended Tithi, a student of the university's zoology department, from the university on October 26, 2020.
